About Us
A cinema for the Cotswolds, designed to feel like your own home.

The Living Room Cinema Chipping Norton offers a relaxed, boutique cinema experience in the heart of the town. Intimate, design-led and quietly luxurious, it’s a place to unwind, connect, and sink into comfort in our sofas and armchairs.

Our programme brings together the latest releases with great family films, independent titles, classics and world cinema, carefully curated and thoughtfully presented. But what matters just as much is everything around it: the atmosphere, the welcome, the sense that this is your place.

Our fabulous team, led by General Manager Simon, are all local to the area and fiercely proud of what they do. Full of character and warmth, they’ll greet you like a regular (even if it’s your first visit), remember the little things, and make the whole experience feel relaxed and unforced.

Whether it’s a regular visit or something more spontaneous, it’s a space that quickly feels like yours. You might come for a film, but you’ll likely stay for something more.

OUR STORY

The Living Room Cinema Chipping Norton brings a belief in quality film, hospitality and community to the Cotswolds.

The story began in 2017, when founder and CEO Claire Beswick set out to create a new kind of cinema: one that felt more personal, more comfortable, and more connected to the community around it. Following the opening of Liphook in 2022, the next chapter took shape in Chipping Norton - a destination long on the radar for the team.

Working alongside Chairman Sir Rupert Gavin and co-director and award-winning producer Nicole Carmen-Davis, the team transformed the much-loved former Harpers building on the High Street into a new kind of destination, breathing new life back into a space that had been part of the town for over 40 years.

The cinema opened in July 2023 with a charity screening of ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’, supporting local charity Thrive North Ox.

Since then, it has quickly become part of the fabric of the town. A place where guests return regularly, where familiar faces are part of the experience, and where film sits alongside a growing programme of events from Q&As and quizzes to curated screenings and special community moments.

We’re proud to be part of Chipping Norton’s high street working with local producers, supporting charitable initiatives, and creating something that feels considered, genuinely local, and part of the town’s story for years to come.
